File Under: Music, YeeHa!
I am not going to be one of those people that are too cool to admit to loving something uncool. My uncool thing (one of many actually) is I really like country music. No, not Keith Urban and the other schlock passing as country music today. That is not country music, that is like hearing only Blink 182 and deciding you know everything about punk rock.
Country music, real country music is punk rock's first cousin. These stars were outsiders playing music from their heart. As the genre came into being anything goes and later it turned into several sub-genres to the point that many of the original acts would not "count" today.
This book gives you one page or so biographies and photos of each of the main players mostly from the 1930s. Even big fans will discover someone that they did not know about.
Douglas B. Green the author of this book knows what he is talking about for the last thirty years he has been vocalist for Riders in the Sky. This is a recommended book for country music fans or those of you out there with an open mind.
