The Timewaster Letters
Robin Cooper
Chicago Review Press
ISBN: 978-1-55652-755-5

We have see books like this before and they always make me laugh. Robin Cooper is the pen name of Robert Popper a British TV writer who has some acclaim in England. This book consist of a series of letters that he has written to various companies asking about their products or organization.

Where Cooper succeeds, and sets himself apart from others, is his ability to draw his correspondences into long exchanges of four or five letters as his responses become more and more absurd. An example of the exchange is one he has with the National Federation of Fish Friers Limited (remember this is England, so there are probably more fish fryers there) where he insist that the President is someone who went to high school with his wife and strings the President on four 5 letters promising to share his secret ingredient.

What I was amazed at when reading this book is how polite all the folks he wrote letters to stayed as he became more and more off base and began sending his stick drawings to them.

I recommend this one for a read. You will be able to finish it quickly and I guarantee it will make you laugh out loud.

-Dave
