Another Shoe Falls: Punk Planet stops publishing |
|
Punk Planet, one of the stalwarts of the underground press has stopped publishing. In a letter to subscribers and on the website publisher Dan Sinker tells us the multiple reasons for the magazine folding after 13 years. The Internet, apathy and distributors folding all take a bit of the blame.
Punk planet has always been a great magazine that was informing and made you think about what you were reading. Maybe in the end that was part of their undoing.
I want to write something profound to express how much I have learned from Punk Planet, how many causes I was informed about, how many times I was called to action and most importantly how much great music I discovered in its pages, but I really couldn't come up with anything.
When I first started Flying Monkey Records, I emailed Punk Planet about placing ads and how to get going. I can't remember who emailed me back, but they went above and beyond and I felt like someone was welcoming me into a family.
I thank Dan and everyone else involved with Punk Planet
